I have dealt with Anderson and Garland many times ,but in their recent auction were items that required a lot of questions as i was not able to view. I had a chat with Nigel who was extremely helpful and took a lot of time with me. I commented to him on the day that i had also had great help from the lady in trying to set up an account with them as I am useless with computers.
Really nice, considerate people.

Avoid this company at all costs! I wish I could give zero stars.
I went to Anderson & Garland as I was looking for a quick sale of my diamond ring.. After handing over the ring I didn't hearing anything for a few weeks and when I got in contact with them; they said the ring would be featured in an auction in a months time. I wasn't best pleased about this; as a month was quite a long time to wait considering I had already waited a few weeks at this point.
The auction date set eventually passed and I heard nothing. Once again I contacted them to be told the ring still hadn't even gone into auction

I can not get used to the new style of auctioneering, where everything is is put into specialised sales. There are not enough lots for me to warrant to close my shop and attend the sale. As a small general dealer I can not afford to attend all sales or leave bids. Where are the sales of 1000 lots and 1500 lots gone? Antique sales of 3 to 4 days of 2000 lots? I used to come home with at least 10 to 20 lots now im lucky I end up with 2, most of the time i do not bother looking because there are so few lots due to it being split up, ie. music sale, sporting sale, vintage sale, modern sale, collectors

They are without question the finest auction house in the North East, but they have amateur attitudes to "security" issues. I for one am sick of being followed around and watched all because I do not fit the "smart elderly" bracket of many of their regulars. Poorly trained staff who ask me to remove my bag but do not ask smarter looking older… customers to remove theirs. It's always when I look at items under the tables, if this is such a problem then don't display items under tables, apart from anything else it's not easy to have to get down on your knees to look at items!

We recently sold the contents of our Toy Museum through them and I can honestly say that they did a terrific job. The staff are professional and friendly and with Fred Whirley-Birch orchestrating the whole process... well we couldn’t have asked for a better service or result. A Big thank you to all involved
