I have worked in care for almost 30 years, managing homes for adults with learning difficulties and for people with dementia, in small and large residential and nursing homes. My husband and I have recently relocated to Dorset from north east Hampshire, which is what brought me to Riverside. We are looking forward to discovering the Dorset countryside and the coast line and our children and grandchildren are all very keen to come and visit.
My journey to work is a joy to drive through the countryside and then to go home and come over the brow of the hill and see the sea always puts a smile on my face. After the last year, which has been hard on every one, this is an exciting time to be a part of Riverside life.

Services
The home has been accredited with the top Platinum award for our End of Life Care programme under the Gold Standard Framework. This award forms the basis for all palliative care offered at Riverside and recognises the highest standards achieved and maintained by our staff. It is backed up by the other health care professionals that we work alongside and is evidence-based on 3 yearly inspections.
With a dedicated team of staff all from the local area, we are pleased to say we use no agency staff which gives the same friendly faces and continuity of care to our residents. Over the years the home has gained a reputation for its excellent care, regularly changing menus and a welcoming atmosphere.
All our staff receive regular training with the Joseph Weld Hospice in all aspect of Palliative Care. Our excellence in this field has been supported by our end of life care programme for which we were awarded the coveted Platinum status by the Gold Standard Framework accreditation board.
With planning and discussions with the resident and family we look to ensure that if a resident chooses to end their days in a homely environment at Riverside Nursing Home we do our best to grant their wish. They may want Radio 4 on in the background or their favourite CD playing and pictures of the family around them, none of this is too much trouble.

Perhaps you need to recuperate after an operation or period of illness and would benefit from some TLC to get back on your feet? When recuperating in hospital is not an option, returning home can be equally daunting and worrying. We will provide the option of a short period of stay to help you reach a full recovery.
