Ceramic and porcelain tiles are manufactured from clay and other materials through a firing process ceramic tiles are heat resistant and some are water resistant whereas porcelain are heat, water and frost resistant, they are both very hard tiles and are commonly used in all types of applications commercially and residentially for floors, walls, bathrooms, splash backs and also as accent pieces to enhance the overall design, they can also be used to create the correct look where there are budget restraints.
Yes you can fix tiles over existing tiling, but first you need to check that the existing tiling is firmly bonded to the background, then clean and degrease the tiles.
In order to get the best possible results you will have to rough the surface of the tile possibly using a piece of sand paper, once you have disregarded the dust off the tile then proceed to cover the tiles using PVA so that the tiles will have that extra bond with the existing tiles. We recommend that if you are tiling over tile on the wall use multi fix and flexible rapid set for the floor.
