At a time of overwhelming grief, we support you in having the funeral you want and need to say goodbye to your loved one. We are proud to be a locally-owned, fully independent funeral directors, undertakers and memorial stonemasons. We are qualified funeral directors licensed by the British Institute of Funeral Directors and qualified Embalmers with over 20 years' experience.
If someone has died at home and it is an expected death, please call your GP Practice and inform them of the death, they will send a Doctor to certify that the person has passed away. If out of hours then please call NHS Out of Hours Service on 111 and they will send a Doctor. Once the Doctor has been, we will then arrange to collect the person who has died and bring them into our care.
Depending on where the person has died, there are different things you'll need to do. If someone dies unexpectedly or they haven't been seen by their GP in the last 14 days, their death will be reported to the coroner, who may call for a post-mortem or inquest. This may take some time and can delay the funeral.

You should register a death within five days of when it occurred.

I have had the misfortune of arranging two family funerals within 3 months the second of which was with Barnsley Municipal Funerals. I cannot thank them enough for their excellent and professional services with a very reasonable cost to boot.

Very good service by this company.
When mum passed away at 97 years old there were only two family members left and she had outlived all her old friends.

Nothing was too much trouble and they were very accommodating to our needs and wishes for our mother who had sadly departed.

As a family we would like to the thank Barnsley Municipal Funerals for the care, good communication , kindness & understanding when my father in law (Leslie Atkinson) passed. We had a direct cremation & from fetching him from the hospital to enabling us to bring clothes etc & his favourite hat which always had on, ready for the day. We chose the scatter tubes & nothing was too much trouble we were kept informed every step of the way. We were shown a great deal of empathy, compassion & we cannot thank Barnsley Municiple team enough, we can highly recommend them.
