CDA's Martial Arts classes offer techniques from many different styles from around the world. We bring the best of all styles and mix training methods and strategies. We train for fitness, fighting or pleasure, but we train hard! There are huge benefits to taking up martial arts and you will certainly feel the difference after a short while of training with us.
Whether in our Children's, fitness or specific Kickboxing classes. We use focus mitts, Thai pads, kick shields and punch bags to build striking power and targeting skills, but the workout you get from it is intense. These drills create a safe way to train martial arts and a great way to work off the weeks tensions, build strength and flexibility.

Services
CDA is a friendly and welcoming martial arts club based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. We are a Family business and pride ourselves on our open approach to Martial Arts training. At our academy we offer classes for children, families and adults in Kickboxing, MMA street self defence and female self defence.
We grade the children 3 times a year if they are ready. Gradings give children focus and maintain motivation. They work from beginner level all the way to Black Belt. They are given a syllabus with all they need to know on joining, we also have online learning to aid them. The kids love achieving their next colour levels and getting their stars or new t-shirts for passing their gradings.
The Kickboxing programme has a full grading structure from white belt to black belt. We grade 3 times a year to test the level the student is at. Grading is not obligatory but we have found that it helps the student progress faster and keeps their focus and motivation. We have regular seminars with world calss instructors such as Bob Breen, Phil Norman and others, who visit CDA to pass on their unique skills and training practices.
Whilst a grading is not going to save you if you are attacked, it does give you structure and direction to your training. We award our students as they hit certain levels of competence and skill. This way they can track how well they are doing and where they need to improve.

We make use of the many heavy bags and free standing kickbags in our gym. These are great as you can hit them as hard as you want and they don't mind. Beat them, punch them, knee them, and they still remain to take a beating again and to help you get fit! Focus mits help develop accuracy, timing and control.

I've been bringing my 3.5 y.o. son here for a few months now. We typically aim for one 30m session a week. Not only do we enjoy it for the small sense of accomplishment it provides going into the weekend, but I've seen noticeable improvements in his listening skills, attentiveness, coordination, and balance.
While children have plenty of energy, 30 minute sessions are just right for children in this age range while they learn to focus on a single task for an extended period of time. I'm sure they could all continue running, jumping, and kicking until they exhausted themselves, but between 15-30

My son has been going to CDA for 4 years and it's brilliant for him. Lee is very patient and firm but fun; he's a great role model. As well as the fantastic progress my son has made with martial arts, the classes have improved his concentration and developed a sporting attitude. The extras such as squad training and Jedi school are also excellent and my son's Ninjas birthday party was a big hit. The club combines individual nurture, high expectations, high quality instruction and fun, and I would recommend it 100%.

My 8 year old son has been attending for well over a year and absolutely loves his sessions. The coaches are brilliant and ensure the sessions are a mixture of fun and learning. Not only has my son's physical strength, coordination and skill level improved but he thoroughly enjoys the social aspect too of hanging out with like minded children. I highly recommend these classes to anyone who has children interested in attending.

Both my children started at CDA around two years ago. It is very good for fitness training, discipline and they still really enjoy it. Lee and his team are friendly and good-humoured which makes the whole experience a lot of fun. Although we've now moved home, and live quite some distance from the gym, we continue to go because it's such a great set-up. I can thoroughly recommend CDA.

CDA is just what I was looking for in a club after a lay off from martial arts of nearly 20 years. Lee is a great instructor and makes you feel at home straight away. Everyone is very friendly and the training is very varied and interesting.
Kids classes are great too, i have also started taking my 6 year old on a Saturday morning and he loves it!

Lee is the most friendly instructor I think I have ever had. Lee is extremely capable and a very natural martial artist and a great and patient instructor. His classes have a great vibe and you feel right at home very quickly. Kick boxing classes have a great dynamic and meet the requirements of all levels. Mixed / Self defence are a constantly evolving and interesting set of skills that keeps me going back time after time. I've done a wide variety of martial arts and this club is probably my favourite of all of them. Lee is also fantastic with the kids. His junior kick boxing looks like great
