Situated on the shores of Oulton Broad, the Wherry Hotel offers comfort, friendly service and exceptional views over the Broad. Our 32 en-suite bedrooms, including two Executive Suites offer comfort, luxury and affordability with many having delightful views over the Broad. All rooms are equipped with FREE WiFi, a flatscreen television with Freeview and tea and coffee-making facilities. The hotel provides a lift to all floors, a free private car park overlooking the Broad and boat moorings if you chose to visit by water.

We are proud to have the well know Castle Carvery restaurant in our hotel. If you've not been lucky enough to of visited a Castle Carvery restaurant before, now is your chance. Known for serving a high quality carvery, offering generous slices of succulent meats alongside your choice of locally sourced, freshly prepared vegetables, potatoes and homemade Yorkshire puddings.

The perfect place to enjoy a wide selection of food from our Light Bites Menu as well as various Fine Wines, Ales and soft drinks. We have complimentary Wi-Fi throughout and ample parking making this the ideal place to spend a few hours enjoying our exceptional views overlooking the broad and friendly service.

Functions and Conferences Report

Our Brown Boat Suite is ideal for meetings or events. Air conditioned and fully equipped, it is the perfect venue for any occasion. The Suite can accommodate any type of large event from conferences to annual gala dinners, with ideal facilities for bands and DJs. The Brown Boat Suite offers outstanding views over the Broad, and also offers a stage, speaker system and microphones, as well as all conference equipment.

Attended a Wake in early December, for a family member, catering for up to 20 people. Room reserved was simply an area to the side of the bar with nothing to prevent members of the public walking through. Food provided consisted of unimaginative sandwiches, one plate of very tiny individual quiches together with crisps and pump action jugs of tea and coffee. Food was not labelled so no idea as to vegetarian or food allergies.
Having attended functions at The Wherry in the past and been pleased, this was very disappointing and the cost of the 'room' and food very overpriced. It's time The Wherry

Booked hotel Queen suite for Christmas break from 24th to 27th December..room was lovely overlooking lake lovely view...stayed here in summer...
Christmas dinner wasn't what we expected..queuing like heard of elephants..people not wearing masks....service was slow not all cutlery on table..also no where sit after our dinner near bar....breakfast was ok but again cutlery and waitress seemed stressed rushing around on her own...no juice..no bowls..we left early boxing day won't be returning again...

Wonderful staff that gives you a warm welcome and the service was very good and the food was absolutely superb. We had a wonderful view from our table over the lake whilst having our meal. Thank you and a merry Christmas and a Happy to all the staff.

Attended a Christmas glitz and glamour party. It was £49.95 each so I was expecting something good. We were crammed onto a table that was too small for the amount of people, there wasn't a lot of elbow room. The food was OK, nothing special really and there wasn't much of it, small portions. I would have paid £10 for all 3 courses, maybe less? The band was OK. Half of our table didn't get offered tea or coffee, that was the only drink that was included, no water on the table either. I had a good night, but felt that £50 was too much to pay for what was provided.

Being in many places around the world and in UK. Both work related and for pleasure. I've opened 3 restaurants as a manager, hence I tend to give a bit lower ratings. Not the case with Wherry Hotel. In this particular price range you simply can not go wrong with it. Thank you guys for your great job.

This was a great venue for a large family meal (40 of us) we all managed to get our meals and eat more or less at the same time. It was a carvery so we all had to queue. The food was delicious and piping hot. The trays if veg were fully stocked so everything was available for everyone. The waitresses were very patient and it was easy to buy our own food and drinks at the table.

This place was fantastic. Gorgeous views over the broads and a character building. The food (cavery) was absolutely delicious and they even had parsnips! Definitely recommend. Reasonable price too (£12)

Just had one night stay. Enjoyed as lovely weather and position gives great views. Had king suite was large room with everything needed. Very clean. Restaurant food pretty good. Breakfast good selection self service. Would prefer better seating outside as benches only. 3rd visit and would stay again

Would highly recommend. Awesome carvery dinner for 6. Great service throughout. We were seated quickly, no need to book, met with smiles and helpful staff all the way. One of party was Vegan and found the Carvery options delicious. One of the children ordered from the kids menu and the waiting staff politely informed us when this was nearly ready so that the rest of us could go to the buffet. Waiting staff were all excellent throughout.
