Butterfly Furniture was established in 1983 by Andrew Conning, following his decision to become an independent cabinet maker. His training and background, a passion and aptitude for woodworking at school and serving a five year apprenticeship at Acorn Industries in Bransby, North Yorkshire, were the perfect platform from which to launch his business.
Andrew is passionate about his work. For him it's not just a job, it's a way of life and all the family are involved. His work is all about producing pieces that will last a lifetime or even longer, destined to become family heirlooms. Each piece is hand crafted from carefully selected timber, constructed with meticulous attention to detail and finished to the highest standard.

We are extremely pleased with the cabinets made for us by Andrew and Ben. It was a tricky job because they were picking up something which had already been planned with a different craftsman and then there was Coronavirus adding extra complications. However they have done an excellent job, both in taking time to understand what we were wishing to do and then meticulously checking all the details with us. The resulting cabinets and bookcase are exactly what we were imagining, very well made and fitting in with our existing pieces. When it came to delivery, Andrew and Ben arrived promptly with plenty

Andrew and Ben have done a fantastic job of our tailor made bespoke wardrobes. Two very talented craftsmen able to transform a vision into reality. The wardrobes are very solid and have added something special to the rooms they are in. A very tidy and efficient team and a pleasure to be around. We just had some fitted furniture done by Andrew and Ben. I have to say the final products are beyond our exception! They are so well made that they make you stop each time you walk past them to appreciate how beautiful they are. I would call Andrew and Ben artists! They truly treat each piece of work as a piece of art. They paid great attention to make even the tiniest detail right. The finished products are just stunning!

Andrew and Ben were fantastic to work with - from the first visit to discuss the work, right through to completion. The standard of their work excellent, and they were a pleasure to have around.
They also sourced and arranged the electrician and plasterer needed on the job, and they too were punctual and did a great job.
Would very happily recommend them to anyone.

I received a stunning hand carved jewellery box for my 21st birthday, made by Butterfly Furniture.
Fashioned mainly from Zebrana, I love the smooth quality of the finish and the intricate detail of the delicate butterfly inlaid with Burr over the key hole.
The base of the box has an elegant curved design making it feminine and classy.
The interior of the box contains a removable tray made from Purple Heart, beautifully lined with cobalt blue silk, with 5 compartments to store my jewellery. Beneath this is a second secured, lined tray for further storage, perfect for my vast collection.
