Wheatland Farm Eco Lodges
Wheatland Farm is a tranquil haven of 21 acres managed as a nature reserve for your sustainable holiday. The farm has four eco lodges and a cottage, and because we're not a conventional farm your holiday comes first. You get the space to relax and reconnect. Think Center Parcs without the numbers. Think Featherdown Farms without contrived marketing hype.

You'll find Hot Tubs at two lodges, boats on the biggest pond, fishing, mown paths through the meadows, benches with views, campfire spots, an outdoor chess table and badminton lawn, room for the kids to run off some energy, free bikes to borrow, etc etc. Wheatland Farm has twice won Visit England's top award for sustainable tourism.
Services
Wheatland Farm is an ongoing conservation project, and you become part of that when you stay. No, you don't need to get muddy (though you can if you want!) - it's your Devon eco lodge holiday that makes it possible to manage this patch of countryside for wildlife rather than food. So you'll see more birds and butterflies than cropsprayers and cowsheds.
Our small Devon Farm has wonderful places to stay. Our Otter Cottage and the smaller eco lodges (Honeysuckle and Nuthatch Lodges) are spacious for a couple and comfortable for up to four. Larger Beech Lodge sleeps six, and fabulous Balebarn Lodge sleeps 8, with an amazing view over the wildlife pond.
Cosy Honeysuckle eco lodge's big south-facing picture windows and veranda overlook grassland at Wheatland Farm, with views towards Dartmoor. It's a great place for your Devon escape. In spring and autumn it's a fabulous and peaceful retreat, with birdsong at your doorstep. Couples love to get way from it all and simply relax (you can book the eco hot tub, sunk into the veranda).
Wheatland Farm has won lots of tourism awards over the years, and Balebarn Eco Lodge has long been one of the star attractions. It was the main reason Wheatland Farm won GOLD for sustainability in the Visit England Tourism Awards 2015. The judges said it Showed what is possible in terms of efficiency, ethical purchasing and upcycling.
Need something smaller? Try Honeysuckle or Nuthatch Lodges or Otter Cottage, which all sleep 4. Bringing a bigger party? Balebarn Eco Lodge sleeps 8. Beech Eco lodge has trees on three sides, and two verandas. The main veranda looks south over grassland where owls often hunt at dusk and butterflies abound in summer.

Brilliant place to stay. Nothing was to much trouble and we felt very welcome. The scones on arrival were delicious. Lots of thought has obviously been put in to make it into a brilliant place. Will definitely return.

Wow, what a lovely place to stay, was beautiful and peaceful location. We stayed in Balebarn lodge was very comfortable, the bifold doors really made a difference . We were lucky enough to have a fox visit us right up to the doors watched a barn owl swooping across the pond and the meadow, lots of different types of birds to keep us entertained .
Owners were very friendly and the home made scones were great.

Stayed here probably five times. The wooden Lodges are comfortable and well equipped. WiFi is not super fast but more than adequate. The views are lovely, beautiful meadows, wild flowers and lots of wildlife. Home made scones and jam on arrival are always welcome. Good base to explore Devon and Dartmoor from.

A beautiful place to stay. The accommodation supports running the farm as a nature reserve. There is abundant wildlife from the fish jumping first thing in the morning through to watching the bat's in the twilight. Otter cottage is well appointed whilst retaining much rustic charm. Highly recommended!
