We are a financial co-operative, for people, not profit. Our aim is to help customers borrow fairly so local people don't have to resort to payday lenders and loan sharks. We're not interested in squeezing the most out of people. We provide loans to people who need us at rates they can afford and savings deposited with us create a fund to lend to people in our community.
There are many benefits to joining us. As a responsible lender we offer competitive, flexible loans, tailored to individual circumstances and a safe home for your money. Our staff and volunteers attended Northumberland Pride Festival at the People's Park in Ashington over the Bank Holiday weekend. NCB's CEO answers questions after the 2021 budget and comments on the importance of financial resilience and ethical lending.

Services
Northumberland Community Bank is very different from a traditional high street bank - the main reason is that we're genuinely for people not profit. As a financial co-operative, we don't have external shareholders, we are owned by our members and they have a say in how it is run. We exist to help our members by offering financial products and services.
The aim was to benefit more people in Northumberland by creating an organisation which could offer a sustainable source of lending for individuals and micro businesses together with a safe home for savings. As a financial co-operative, our customers are members.
By generating deposits from those members, a fund is created allowing us to lend to local people, including those vulnerable to high interest lenders such as Pay Day and Door Stop lenders and Loan Sharks. We use technology to ensure we are easy to deal with but still offer a personal service by phone or in person.

Here are a few examples of our most popular loan amounts - the interest rates used are for illustration only and will vary depending upon your circumstances. Remember, we can lend between 300 and 15,000 - so apply for what you need or let us give you a personalised quotation. We will always do our best to help you with a loan and guide you to the best product we have for your individual position.
Our savers have a safe home for their money, instant access with the potential for an annual dividend and at the same time know their money is helping local people. From time to time, we offer our members the opportunity to apply for a fixed interest rate account too. Our aim is to empower people to use their money to their best advantage and build financial resilience.
