The Tippling Philosopher is a family run 16th century free house owned and managed by Dave & Di Belcher who have been in the trade for over 28 years. There is a comprehensive range of Lager and Cider, but the speciality of the house is the ever changing real ales. Where possible 3 are available and they change day-by-day.
Some regular brews come back two or three times a year, others appear but once in a blue moon. With the new addition of "Tipps Best" a regular "fair priced" ale of the house choice. These are restricted at present because of the impact from C-19 See here for all the menus. And if that's not enough, Barbecues and an annual Gin & Cider festival in the summer, Quiz Nights, Skittles, Pool and Darts!

Well, it's been a fair while since I've been here, so things may have changed, but I think they deserve a review. We used to come by the Philosopher for a few drinks and to play pool- I can't remember but I'm pretty sure the pool was free and they had a darts board too. The drinks that we had were always cheap by today's standards, the staff were always friendly, and the atmosphere is a really nice, warm one.
