The Black Mountain Centre
At the heart of the local community the Centre is a one-stop shop for the residents of Brynaman and the surrounding area. It provides a non-threatening place where local people can drop in for a cup of tea, a meal or just to find out what is going on in the village.

The Centre provides educational classes and courses, a part-time library, doctor's surgery, police surgery, outreach services, Credit Union, as well as IT facilities and access to the Internet. The Black Mountain Community Cafe, located at the heart of the Centre - is a comfortable and informal place to meet friends and family for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or just a coffee and a chat.
Services
We have recently refurbished our tourist information point with funding support from Brecon Beacons National Park and Carmarthenshire County Council. We received grant funding in the amount of 10,000 from the Sustainable Development Fund and the Sustainable Community Tourism Fund. We have upgraded the reception area with bespoke units, touchscreen computers, signage and a series of wall mounted maps.
Brynamman House is an authentically restored riverside Georgian house built in 1838, standing in its own walled grounds in the centre of Brynaman village. Designed by a local architect John Jones and mentioned in George Burrows "Wild Wales", this historic house originally gave it's name to Brynamman village.
Our cafe is open all year round, serving good home-cooked food. We aim to provide quality food in attractive surroundings and very much hope that you will come and visit us soon. We open for breakfast, lunch and snacks, or a firm favourite with our local customers, come and relax with a cup of tea and homemade cakes, all served in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
The community library in Brynaman has a wide variety of books, DVD's and CD's to interest individuals of all ages and abilities. The library also boasts a computer suite that customers can use during library opening hours. The library offers a selection of fiction to suit all tastes in both regular & large print, including crime section, horror & sci-fi.
The community bulk buying scheme, which started in 2014 by The Black Mountain Centre in partnership with Carmarthenshire County Council, is helping address the growing issue of high fuel costs. The scheme started with a bid to combat ever-increasing heating oil bills by collectively negotiating discounts from suppliers.
