Following Government guidelines we must insist all people coming into the shop wear a suitable (properly fitted) facemask. We must also restrict how many people are in the shop at any one time. We are unlikely to be able to accomodate any children or adults who do not fall into the above categories and request they wait outside.
Purchases can still be made by anyone without an appointment, but please wait outside until called in. The staff at John Hamer Opticians have been caring for the eyes of people in the community for over 20 years. Our optometrist and contact lens practitioner both have extensive experience of working in local hospitals and are used to helping out people with complex eye problems.

Just collected my new distance and reading glasses. The staff are friendly, professional and incredibly helpful. I was treated with total respect and was able to take my time choosing my frames. My eye test was thorough, relaxed and unrushed. I was taken by how much I was valued as a patient. They have a very reasonable price range of frames to choose from. I cannot recommend John Hamer Opticians any higher.

I have been seeing Mr Hamer and Nicki for almost 10 years now and they are truly excellent. When I am panicking about my shortage of contact lenses, the ladies in the shop will always put a rush on my order and get them to me in time - with just the hint of a frustrated sigh at my lack of organisation! Couldn't recommend them all more highly.

Went as I was recommended there by a family member. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I was seen by a hospital optometrist who knew her stuff.
I ended up changing my glasses and took a while to choose new ones as there was plenty of choice. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out the cost (not like the last place, where I felt pressured to buy an expensive pair).
Will be going back here again! Very satisfied customer.

Years ago came here went through all the opthalmic optician tests they gave me dragged on for weeks then finally got my reading glasses and have a guess could not read so I gave them away to charity. Ever since I have gone to places like wh smith done my own tests and have a guess can read this small print.
