Ben Rhydding Golf Club
Ben Rhydding Golf Club was built between 1885 and 1890 as part of a colossal Victorian hotel, founded on the craze for spa water treatment, or hydrotherapy, which was regarded as a cure for all ailments. It followed the establishment of the White Wells Bath House on Ilkley Moor in1793 and is part of the arc of spa wells that centres on the famous Royal Baths in Harrogate.

Hamer Stansfield, Mayor of Leeds at the time, was so convinced that bathing at White Wells had improved his health that he formed the Hydropathic Company and built the 'Hydro' hotel near the Cow and Calf rocks. He also developed the Ben Rhydding railway station in the village of Wheatley on the recently opened line from Leeds to serve staff and visitors to the hotel.
Services
Then joining the Seniors at Ben Rhydding might just be the ticket for you. Though ravaged by time and the vagaries of nature we are, at heart, a youthful, energetic and especially welcoming bunch of fellas. We play with humour and civility though perhaps only a few of us might be considered particularly gallant or refined.
From the rear of the clubhouse, follow the path up to the right and cross the 9/18th fairway to the 1st tee. Enjoy your round! Although protected by netting, please be aware of players on the 3rd tee when driving from the 2nd tee. This is the signature hole of BRGC. A shot to the right of this post is safer and should end up in the valley beyond (beware of being left).
Only a small number of golf clubs have been prepared to do this. This means that our subscription rates have been unchanged since the year 2019-20. Application form: you will find an application form HERE, which you can print and return to the Club Secretary.

Whilst England Golf provides Personal Liability Insurance for registered active playing members of the Club in connection with certain golfing mishaps, this doesn't provide cover for many other golfing incidents. It is recommended that members take out specialised golf insurance. Great tough unique course , could definitely do with more signage or a map of the course as I had no clue where I was hitting too on a few holes , some of the best views in Yorkshire golf

After seeing this course advertised I thought I would go give it a quick knock, I was really pleased with how it played, it was really well kept upto and very picturesque, it's a hidden gem for sure. Some tricky holes with hidden fairways and greens which makes you have to think about shot selection.

For an imaginative 9 holes on the side of a moor with stunning views to the Dales it's hard to beat for the visitors fee of just £10. Short course with some very "blind" tee shots :) But it's a golfer's course amidst all of that. There's also a wee pond with a beautiful stone bridge that is very Insta-worthy to boot, just keep an ear out for a "Fore!"

It’s like having your own personal course. Nearest player 4 holes behind didn’t see anyone in front. Very relaxing golf 🏌️‍♂️ until you slice one

What a great course! 2 visitors in Sept 2018, never played here before, definitely worth a go. Very "uppy downy" which is what we wanted, coming from Bedfordshire. Members that we met were very friendly, great views and we played both front and back 9 (its a 9 hole course) which works fine. Loved it
