If you require accommodation in the North West Highlands, Ken and Sheila would like you to consider The Culag Hotel. Set in the rural village of Lochinver and open all year-round, we are a traditional family-run hotel that has been operating for over 13 years. Our hotel offers 12 comfortable en-suite rooms in the heart of beautiful Assynt.

Call today to book your stay. The Culag Hotel was originally built in 1795 by Sir Joseph Bacon as a smokehouse for herring. It was then later sold to Macdonald of Skye. In 1870 the Duke of Sutherland extended the building using it as his summer residence. In 1890 The Culag was first leased out as a hotel.
Services
We offer packed lunches on request and can fill flasks for your day out. A laundry service is available upon request and we can dry your boots and outdoor clothes after a day on the hill. We can store bicycles, or if you're a fisher we can provide storage for rods and equipment along with freezing your catch.
Our hospitality, friendly service and great selection of whiskies are just some of the reasons our guests visit again and again. You keep a sparkling clean house, lovely food, excellent service. Many thanks. Wonderful hospitality, great service. Thanks Sheila and Helen. As good as usual. We'll be back!
There are many beautiful walks in the Highlands around Lochinver. The local Munros are Ben More, Assynt and Conival. The Grahams and Corbetts in the area are no less stunning, including Quinag, Stac Pollaidh and the iconic Suilven. For the less adventurous, there are gentler walks along the Rivers Inver and Kirkaig (taking in the Kirkaig Falls), around Culag Woods above the village, and on the Little Assynt estate.
The Culag Hotel is situated on the pier in the fishing village of Lochinver. From Inverness, take the A9 north towards Dingwall then turn off onto the A835, signed to Ullapool. From Ullapool, follow signs to Lochinver on the A835 then the A837. The journey time by car is approximately 2 hours, depending on how often you stop to admire the view!

Did not stay here but visited for evening meal. The gammon appeared dry and looked as if it had been reheated. Potatoes that had not been fully boiled and very tasteless veg. Very poor in value for money and taste. Would not return.

Perfectly acceptable good value hotel. Obviously used to be a grand old place. Now it's dated, nothing wrong with the condition, just dated. It was CoVid time so hard to comment on much else. Breakfast is plentiful but not as tasty as our others during our tour of the Highlands.

An appalling experience at this so-called hotel. Thick cellophane from bar top to ceiling with just a tiny hole for placing an order at the bar was an utterly ludicrous over-reaction to the current situation which we didn't encounter anyway else on our travels in the highlands. And that coupled with a way o.t.t., officious barmaid who seemed to revel in barking orders. Give a jobsworth a bit of power and responsibility that they're not used to and can't handle and see what happens.
We wanted some food. We hadn't booked. We hadn't anticipated we'd have to. There were four empty tables around our
