Services
Shaw Preservations is the leading damp, woodworm and dry rot specialist in the Surrey area. We specialise in the eradication of woodworm, fungal decay and rising damp in buildings, plus cellar waterproofing. Our staff are fully qualified and committed to providing work of the highest possible standard and a friendly, responsive service to our customers.
Damp in properties is a serious problem with the damage ranging from slight, as in decorative staining to more severe such as structural damage. There are several forms of damp such as penetrating, rising, lateral, condensation and plumbing leaks etc. Each of the above require different treatments in order to solve the problem and it is vitally important that the correct diagnosis is initially made and the recommendations undertaken.
Condensation is usually first noticed on the windows, settling on the window sills in the morning. Black mould can develop on the decorations and furnishings touching the wall. Generally, the brickwork and wall plasters are not affected however, if severe and unchecked, it can damage the plaster and timbers in contact with the damp walls.
Wood is a durable material which is resistant to most biological degrade providing it is kept dry. When wood becomes wet decay occurs with the type of decay depending on the type of wood, moisture content and atmospheric conditions. As a Company we often find Dry Rot and Wet Rot Fungii misdiagnosed due to inexperience or insufficient training.
Of course, We can carry out a range of services to suit you from a single wall in one room to a whole house inspection. Has the mortgage company asked for a whole house inspection as a precaution or just one room that has been highlighted as a cause for concern? No matter, we can help. We have surveyors that are specialists in this field and are happy to liaise with your conservation officer to ensure sympathetic repairs are carried out.

Report
I recently used this company for some damp I had. I was told to use a PCA registere company by my homebuyers surveyor.
I looked them up on checkatrade and saw the reviews first and had other companies out too.
The surveyor was more thorough than the others and professional so I decided to use this company over others.
The workmen arrived on time and were friendly. They cleaned up during the work and then tidied up brilliantly afterwards.
The office were really good at explaining things to me and were very knowledgeable.
I would definitely use this company again if I had damp.

This company has some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. We paid for a survey and on the basis of the report asked them to do the work (damp proofing , replastering , and installing air bricks). When the work man turned up he could not understand the work sheets and said it was not possible to install the air bricks. When the workman left for the evening he was asked about reattaching electrical sockets, he said the plaster would do it next day. When the plasterer came the next day he said it was not his job and he did not have the tools. I wrote to the company to complain,
