Promotive is one of the largest independent BMW and MINI specialists in the country with the commitment to customer care and satisfaction. Outside work John enjoys family life, camping, boating, surfing and skiing (but not all at the same time!) Megan joined us in 1999 and looks after the day to day finances, payroll etc. Megan spends her spare time creating impressive craftwork & jewellery, and attends arts & crafts shows around the country.
Promotive offer a range of service from vehicle maintenance & servicing to performance tuning. We are the genuine alternative to using a BMW dealer for servicing, repair and diagnostic testing of BMW vehicles. We stock hundreds of tyres from most of the leading manufacturers, including Dunlop, Continental, Pirelli, Michelin, Avon and a range of budget tyres. If we haven't got a particular size in stock we can usually obtain most tyres within an hour. For specialist tyres and unusual sizes we can order for next day delivery.
Performance Tunes are modifications to the manufacturer's vehicle tune data. These modifications are downloaded to the vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU) through the on-board diagnostics connector. All upgrades are through the diagnostic connector, meaning that the ECU does not have to be removed and opened up.
Everyone who uses a vehicle on the road must keep it in a roadworthy condition. The MOT test checks that vehicles meet road safety and environmental standards. The first MOT test for a motor car is required when it's three years old and annually thereafter. The MOT certificate confirms that at the time of the test, without dismantling it, the vehicle met the minimum acceptable environmental and road safety standards required by law.

Brought my 4 Series to Promotive and was impressed by the quality & speed of work from the team and the great service & advice from Chris whom I dealt with, he kept me informed & up-to-date during the work which I appreciate, he talked me through aspects of the car and took the time to show/ explain the works they carried out.
I also had to bring the car back a week later as I had an additional problem but Chris got it looked at first thing that morning and it was sorted quickly with no extra charge.
We're new to the area having moved from Bristol and I am over the moon to have a reliable specialist

This is first time that I’ve used Promotive, a refreshing change from the main dealerships, they actually call you back!!
Chris and his team were professional, knowledgeable and informative, they provided good value accurate quotations with options to proceed or not.
They were able to provide a courtesy car which was appreciated and were able to complete the repairs on time and on budget.

I had the misfortune of needing a new engine for my 1 series after failure of the timing chain caused catastrophic damage. Whilst facing a difficult decision about what to do, I took my car to promotive and I can’t fault anything about the whole experience from start to finish. Chris talked me through all options, & was prompt with all the information I needed to make a decision - I opted for a new engine. The service provided was second to none & since I’ve had the car back it’s been excellent. I’ve used other garages in the past, but from now on I’ll be a repeat customer at Promotive

I had a 100% 5-star experience with Promotive after suffering a gearbox failure. The first hint that I was dealing with a professional team came from the RAC recovery engineer who had nothing but good things to say about them.
I value and appreciate how John and Chris kept me updated during the investigations and repairs. I also appreciate how they interacted with a warranty company on my behalf.
I feel very reassured and think it highly likely I will visit again when my servicing is due (even though I live in the other side of the country!)

Fab service from Chris at Promotive; a great guy to deal with! Brilliant contact from start to finish - Chris explained everything clearly, did a thorough diagnostic check on my Mini Cooper and replaced the front break pads and discs all at a great price! Can’t recommend these guys enough! Our new go to garage for both myself and my partner - you won’t be disappointed!

What can i say about these guys, they got me out of a pickle with a bad experience with a local dealer they went above and beyond what i expected of any garage to do. They got a part over from Ireland so that i would not have to wait 5 weeks for, they got my car safe by replacing full brakes discs, pads, and sensors and rear calibre's replaced glow plugs the modulator replaced brake vacuum sensor, and air con and to top it off had to replace rear handbrake cable because they were close to snapping Chris the gentleman i was dealing with through out all this was a god send we found out the car did
