During my time working as a Psychotherapist I have come to see psychotherapy as much more of an art than a science - a therapist is not a medical provider or a healer, but first and foremost a human being who engages in conversations with other human beings, in an attempt to make their lives better.

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process, and I believe that the quality of the relationship between the client and the counsellor is one of the most important parts of the therapeutic process. Although I have listed all my qualifications and experience, they will tell you very little about how I actually work, or what it's like to sit in the room with me.

Adolescents today face a huge array of challenges that are ever-growing in number; with exam pressure, peer pressure and the internet, all adding to this already difficult period of developmental change. These internal and external changes can generate predicaments that some teenagers are not able to resolve either on their own or with the help of supportive friends and family.
Young adulthood is described as the ages from mid 20's to mid 30's. It is a time of daunting challenges as you begin to live your life independently, develop your career, form longer term relationships and perhaps bring up children - a phase full of the complex tasks of developing identity and finding a place in society.
There are times when life can seem unmanageable. Psychotherapy offers you the space and time you need to explore issues that are important to you. It might be facing a painful transition such as a career change, family breakup or bereavement; or perhaps experiencing symptoms that impede your enjoyment of life.
Receiving a diagnosis of cancer can evoke a vast array of emotions for the person with the diagnosis, as well as for their families and friends. All Therapy has vast experience of supporting clients; adults and children with cancer, both during and after their treatment.

I understand that it can be difficult to talk to friends and family for fear of burdening them with more fears and emotions but it is important that your own thoughts and feelings are not lost amongst your journey through cancer. For adults, young adults or adolescents, talking to someone who is trained to explore these emotions can be a very powerful tool at this time.
