Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation
The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation is the oldest and largest Commonwealth membership organisation in the field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). Its Strategic Plan for 2016-20 identifies six strategic goal areas on which it is concentrating its contribution to the use of ICTs for development across the Commonwealth during the plan period.

The CTO supports its members in delivering effective ICTs through its three operational divisions: technical support, consultancy and advisory services; capacity development; and events and conferences. Our work currently focuses on six key areas: enchanced membership value, regulatory environments, universal broadband, cybersecurity, applications, and Commonwealth coordination.
Services
The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) is the oldest and largest Commonwealth intergovernmental organisation in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Being fully involved in the development and use of ICTs for social and economic development, the management of the organisation recognise that it must stay at the cutting edge of ICT developments in order to deliver significant benefits to its members.
The CTO is eager to share news about its own activities as well as important information produced by others across the Commonwealth about the use of ICTs for development. We share our press releases and news from our members on a regular basis through the CTO website and are keen to promote and publicise the work undertaken by all of our members and partners.
The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) is an international organisation subject to a Headquarters Agreement with the UK Government, and with its offices located in London. The CTO has four broad categories of members: Full Member Countries, Affiliate Member Countries, ICT Sector Members and Academia.
Organised by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation, the Commonwealth ICT Awards are intended to recognise major achievements in ICTs by member countries and organisations, and to share knowledge amongst Commonwealth ICT stakeholders in key category areas.

Held every other year, the first Commonwealth ICT & Industry Awards held in 2016 in London saw the award for Best Universal Access Initiative go to the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority for its wholesale Wi-Fi hotspots in key strategic public areas providing every citizen 30 minutes free browsing every day at a minimum speed of 2 Mbps.
Year 2016 will also be the first year of implementation of the newly adopted 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Considering the ever-important contribution of ICTs in social, economic and human development, and given the special role the CTO has played ever since its creation in coordinating the Commonwealth's engagement in the global ICT agenda, assisting member countries in areas such as technical support, capacity building and knowledge sharing, 2016 presents us with a two-fold opportunity: to highlight and celebrate the achievements of the Organisation and its members, and to plan to deliver greater value through its new strategic plan for 2016-20.

Report
CTO is one of the best organisations to work for. The way the team works is amazing. Staff are constantly on the move traveling to many countries to help these developing countries in the field of ICT. The staff here care about the world and want to make an impact and no one is ever sick and when they are they stroll in to work because they want to make a difference.
