The enforced lockdown period has been an incredibly difficult time for so many fellow catering and hospitality businesses and we are so appreciative of the incredible support we have had from the local community.
Whether that was ordering boxed Afternoon Teas, which we will continue to offer with a reduced delivery service to Rayleigh only, or collection from the coffee shop itself, sharing our posts on social media or recommending Squires on local community groups. The support has been constant and we would like to take this opportunity to say a huge Thank You.

Services
Since we opened our doors back in 1996, Squires has enjoyed being at the heart of Rayleigh High Street and the wider local community. Our beautiful building has stood here for about 300 years withstanding old age, extremes of weather, the hurricane of 1987 and even two world wars.
If it can withstand those threats it can, and will, overcome the current pandemic returning to some semblance of normality, whatever that may be, hopefully before too long. For many months now our tables have been empty, our kitchen quiet, our ovens on a semi- permanent holiday and an eerie silence had descended where normally laughter, chatter and a general hub bub was once heard.

What social distancing measures are in place? There is now a 'Wait to be seated' sign at the front door. A member of staff will show you to a table. All customers and staff must use hand sanitiser as they arrive. Sanitisers are available throughout the shop including the toilet area. We have removed some tables to help maintain social distancing.

My husband and I visited Squires today and had breakfast with avocado 🥑 and poached eggs. Oh my goodness these ladies in the kitchen sure know how to serve a wonderful poached egg. The staff are lovely and friendly and when under pressure if they are busy still have a great outlook. Well done ladies you rule 👍

Really busy on a Friday afternoon. Afternoon tea requires a minimum of two people which is a shame (as I didn't get to have it!) I enjoyed a really lovely "cream tea" (scone with cream and jam, charged extra for the tea) and mum had a toastie. They offer a range of cakes too. Customer toilet on site with baby changing facilities.

I have just had my first delivery of afternoon tea from Squires . From the moment I ordered it, the experience was brilliant. Friendly and easy to understand ordering and nothing was too much trouble. When our tea arrived it was delicious. Beautiful, tasty sandwiches, fresh scones with butter, jam and clotted cream and a selection of lovely cakes. I cannot recommend it enough. Thank you so much Squires- can’t wait for our next one.
