We are a Garden Centre and Plant Nursery situated eleven miles west of Inverness and only four miles from the picturesque town of Beauly. The nursery began in 1974 and it is our growing experience and passion for plants which makes our Garden Centre a special place to visit.
We stock the plants which we know do well in the Highlands but we are also constantly trying out new varieties. Wonderful nursery, healthy plants, good selection of outdoor plants and acid loving plants, plants and sundries not too expensive. Services
At Highland Liliums, we pride ourselves on stocking a full range of hardy plants all the year round. The plants available reflect the varied climatic conditions associated with the highlands. A large percentage of the plants for sale in our plant area are grown here at Kiltarlity on our own nursery.
For the small garden consider a tree that is slow growing or one that can be grown in a container. Top grafted weeping trees never get any higher than the height of the stem. Autumn, winter and early Spring planting is advisable for trees, and you will have to look at stakes and possibly tree guards.
There are hundreds of heather species and cultivars, and in the garden centre we will always have a selection of Calluna and Erica varieties. The Calluna are cultivars of our native ling heather and have been bred for their range of foliage colour, and late summer and autumn flowers of many different colours.
In the Alpine category we group all the small hardy plants which are suitable for growing in a rock garden or in a small area such as a trough or crevices in paths and walls. Some varieties such as phloxes and dianthus can happily exist at the edge of flower borders. They can be bulbs, perennials or shrubs and although we grow a wide range at Highland Liliums we also source from other nurseries so there is a fantastic choice in the Garden Centre.
Ponds and the running water that feeds them bring sound and lots of wild-life to a garden. Although we don't stock many of the hard landscaping materials which are needed to build a pond we are passionate about the plants that do well in and around water and have a stock of aquatic plants. This is a British native, floating aquatic.
