Additionally, there are meditation and Buddhist study retreats designed for those with a more regular practice.
Dhanakosa is beautifully situated in the southern part of the Scottish highlands in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and this setting provides ideal conditions for retreats. Dhanakosa is currently offering a variety of online retreat experiences, alongside our residential retreats, to bring the magic of the Glen to your home.

Formerly a hotel and gourmet restaurant, Dhanakosa (known historically as Leathad na Crche, 'slope of the boundary' anglicised as Ledcreich - an old march wall on the eastern side of the property being the eponymous boundary) was acquired by the Glasgow Buddhist centre by lease hold in 1992.We began holding retreats in September of that same year.

The Triratna Buddhist Community (Triratna) was founded in 1967, by Sangharakshita, an Englishman who had spent many years in India as an ordained Buddhist monk and returned to the UK in the mid 60's. Triratna is an international fellowship of those who aspire to the Buddhist path of mindfulness, and positive emotion, under the leadership of the Triratna Buddhist Order.
The resident Dhanakosa community consists of 7 people living in the community house behind the retreat centre, and another house on the site, which houses two team members and their two children. There is also Padme the cat who lives in the community house, and Ace the dog who lives in the family house.
Open to all, these retreats are suitable for both beginners and those with more experience, but no previous experience is assumed.
