Services

The museum holds a broad social history collection including objects related to crofting, the sea, education and learning, and objects related to the founding of Ullapool. The ground floor (and toilet) is fully wheelchair accessible. Because of the building's listed status, we have been unable to make the gallery accessible to those with impaired mobility. We have a screen downstairs to show the film that plays in the gallery, and archive folders from the upstairs library can be brought down on request.
Our museum relies on funding from a wide range of sources and there are many ways that you can help ensure the display, care and preservation of the collection for future generations. You can pay by standing order, by post, or at the museum reception. Membership entitles you to free access to the museum during your period of membership, voting rights at our AGM and to receive newsletters.

Great museum with information on different aspects of real life in the highlands around Ullapool and the fate of locals, who had to leave. In there you get close to the real thing, not just the romantic notion you often get when you see the fantastic landscape here. It is a treasure chest with objects, stories, images and music. I particularly liked the interview with a crofter, who told about the old ways. Great value for money, I enjoyed it a lot.

A very interesting little museum - we visited because I am descended from two of the passengers from the Hector which sailed from Loch Broom in 1773. There was information about the Hector, about Ullapool, and about the museum building itself (a former church). The museum volunteers were very helpful and informative. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
