We are experts in designing stair cases to suit any application, be it replacing a main staircase from Ground level to first floor or a new staircase for a loft/attic conversion. Our stairs can be built in a wide variety of designs to suit your taste and budget, using a range of high quality timber including Pine, Oak, Hemlock and Mahogany.
Services
Cowan Carpentry until 2016 was a specialist joinery company building a wide range of bespoke products including summer houses, gazebos and garden rooms. In 2016 Cowan Carpentry incorporated T.W. Hanns Manufactured Joinery, the leading supplier of bespoke wooden staircases in the West of Scotland. The company is now located in a large workshop in Hollybush and specialises in the building of bespoke, hand made wooden stairs.
In addition to the main part of our business, which is making bespoke staircases, we also manufacture bespoke windows and doors for a wide range of applications. One of the easiest and cheapest ways to improve the look of your home can be to upgrade the doors and windows - with our bespoke products we can provide you with the highest quality finish to ensure that is achieved.
Every staircase is a unique project and our team can work with you to ensure the perfect solution. We can build staircases directly from plans that you provide - although we would normally recommend a site visit to ensure that any problems with access or the design will be flagged up before work starts on your staircase.
A joinery company on Arran required two short, straight flight stairs for a building project. The staircases are crafted in oak and will have a solid glass balustrade. To allow the fitting of the glass balustrade we had to run a groove in the handrails, newel posts and the baserails. An Ayrshire based builder required this top and bottom winder staircase.
