Air Purity Analysis Testing is a requirement that complies with BS EN 12021 Air Purity Standards. All in-line breathing air line systems must be tested under the current COSHH Regulations. COSHH Regulation 9, ACOP 9, Section 178 states that the quality of compressed air supplied to breathing apparatus should be tested every 3 months.
The use of flammable and/or toxic gases and chemicals is an essential part of manufacturing in a wide range of industries. It is common practice to use portable gas detectors to check for the presence of gases or vapours. To provide an early warning of the presence of a flammable atmosphere in hazardous areas during work which may generate an ignition source, eg welding or tank cleaning.
Face Fit Testing is a method used to ensure that a tight-fitting face-piece matches the person's facial features and seals correctly to the wearer's face. Qualitative Face Fit Testing: this is used for half masks and disposable masks to ensure the correct fitting of the face-piece with a series of tests and takes approximately twenty minutes.
The COSHH Regulations and the associated Approved Code of Practice recommend that the initial selection of tight fitting face pieces should include a fit test. This is to ensure that the selected RPE has the potential to provide adequate protection for the wearer. The performance of tight-fitting face pieces depends on achieving a good contact between the wearers' skin and the face seal of the face piece.
