Quantock Trekking is a well established centre for horse trekking and riding holidays in the picturesque village of West Bagborough in the heart of the Quantock Hills, Somerset. The hills are a hidden gem covering some 38 sq miles and were famously designated the first Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB) in Britain.
There is no better way to discover the diversity and beauty of the Quantocks than on horseback, escorted by our experienced guides. We have a wide range of 26 working ponies and horses, the smallest being 12.2HH and the largest 18.2HH. The rides change on a daily basis so that we can best serve our customers' requirements, but you can be assured we will give you the best experience possible.

Services
If you're completely new to riding, we provide a beginner's session to prepare you for our treks. The Quantock is an Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB), what better way to enjoy it than on horseback? We went riding with Quantock Trekking. Lovely, happy and well cared for horses (especially Gerty) and friendly and helpful staff.
Please note: we are currently not offering Novice/Beginner Rides until the end of summer 2021. We will help you on and off the horse but a reasonable level of fitness is required to ride. There will be a guide at the front and the rear of the ride to assist you if required. We ride around the local lanes and bridleways, so jeans and long sleeves must be worn, to avoid getting scratched.
Riders need to be comfortable in canter and reasonably fit, to join an experienced ride. We vary the routes each day as we are spoilt for choice here in the Quantocks. Rides are mainly walking and trotting with some cantering but no jumping. The experienced rides are usually about 6 miles nearly all of it off road and covering some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain.
This ride is guided and only suitable for riders who are competent at cantering in the open. We cover 10-15 miles with a pub stop on-route. It is a relaxed ride but we cover a lot of ground so a reasonable level of fitness is required. The routes are varied but Will's Neck, Dead Woman's Ditch, Slaughter house Combe and Bicknoller Post are the key areas we visit.
We are able to provide packages for hen parties of all abilities. We can cater up to 12 riders and can split rides, so experienced riders can do a little more. When you telephone to book we will require names, heights, weights and match you to a horse and also answer any further questions you might have.
