In 1850 Edwin Dyer started a bake house behind his house on School Road. This eventually became Wedges as we know today Edwin's surname also lends itself to Dyers Lane where the bakery is located. In the early 1900's the bakery passed to Mr F Alcott who ran it during World War One and into the 1930's.
A cosy relaxed Coffee Shop and Bakery in Solihull with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere in Solihull. There has been a bakery on this site for many years now and Wedges are enjoying serving the local community and visitors from farther afield. With space to park outside come and enjoy our freshly made sandwiches, handmade cakes or even our own made scotch eggs.

I visited the Illshaw Heath Branch today to eat in with some friends and whilst the food was ok, I was surprised that although I was eating in and sat at a table, my food was served as though I was taking it away including the soup….
I also had to get my own coffee from a machine which didn’t taste amazing…… I requested a high chair and there was a dispute as to whether any actually existed & one member of staff was actually quite rude to me.
The quality of the savouries, cakes and pastries is unquestionable but I didn’t really feel welcome as an ‘Eating In’ guest.

Me and the missus popped in for a take-out on Sunday morning. A quick bacon butty and coffee en-route to the shops.
Sandwiches comprised a couple of rashers in plain white sliced bread and a whiff of brown sauce. Coffee was VERY strong latte from a vending machine (albeit bean to cup).
Bacon butties are up there as the most popular UK butty and these left us totally underwhelmed. At this price (£12.60!) the least I expect (especially from a bakery) is a choice of breads and bacon bulging out the sides!
Won't be rushing back.

Love this place. Took a lovely walk along the canal and stopped off for a birthday lunch with my family.
Not really any vegan options so I have a beans toastie but it was really tasty.
The steak & onion sandwich looked great, the ham sandwich was so packed with ham as was the ham & cheese.
Had a cake and coffee too then a good walk home.
Lovely way to spend my birthday afternoon.

Just a query that makes no sense to me! Visited today at Earlswood Garden Centre to be told only disposable cups permitted outside? why? Mugs and Ccups were being used if you sat inside and plates and cutlery given for food outside.... but I couldn't have a mug for a hot drink outside??? made no sense at all - so we left and took our business elsewhere

We hadn't been here for over a year and were really excited to get some of the usually excellent fresh food. However, when we got home and unwrapped one of our sandwiches, two long black hairs put us right off. I took one out but then finding another was too much to take Disgusting! Was such a shame. I tried calling them but there was no answer. We live 15mins away so didn't want to drive all the way back to wait in line again to complain.

To all the staff at Wedges Earlswood, you’ve all worked so hard to keep your customers COVID safe, even down to using takeaway cups for our safety. I was very impressed on the cleanliness and social distancing that is in place, we felt very comfortable and safe. So, 3 teas and one lovely toastie later (oh and a cheeky lemon muffin) ...we left very full and satisfied. Definitely be back very soon. Highly recommend. Well done everyone, on a great job at this difficult time 🌈 👏👏👏❤️
