Services
Edinburgh Orthodontics is Scotland's largest specialist orthodontics practice conveniently situated in the heart of Edinburgh. We only do orthodontic work and this absolute focus on our specialist area mean that you will receive the best possible treatment. We will work in conjunction with your dentist if your orthodontic work forms part of a broader dental improvement plan.
Edinburgh Orthodontics is Scotland's largest specialist orthodontics practice. All of our orthodontists are dentists who have undertaken three years specialist orthodontics training and who have become qualified with the Royal College Of Surgeons, we are all GDC (General Dentist Council) registered specialists in and the British Orthodontic Society.
An increasing number of adults are undertaking orthodontic treatment to improve their smile by having their teeth straightened using discrete braces and aligners. Orthodontic treatment with aesthetic appliances are available only as private treatment. The number of under 18s being treated privately is also increasing as NHS funding is only available for cases which meet NHS criteria.
NHS orthodontic treatment is available for children under 18 years of age subject to certain conditions. Children must be referred to us by their dentist in order to be assessed for NHS treatment. The NHS have set out guidelines on the conditions which will be funded by the NHS. In general only moderate to severe orthodontic conditions will be funded by the NHS.
Adults are increasingly opting for orthodontic treatment to straighten teeth and improve their smile and dental health. It is important to many adults that they look their best for business and social reasons and orthodontic treatment can improve their confidence and their smile.
Modern orthodontic treatment using clear or virtually invisible braces and aligners enables treatment to be discrete, again this may be an important factor for adult patients. Our specialist orthodontists can offer the widest range of modern techniques and work with you to develop an individual treatment plan which fully meets your needs.

Called in today because I need a new powerchain on my braces. Surprisingly, they refused saying they will not do it, but instead tried to have me request a transfer from my current orthodontist to the clinic. I am pretty sure this is unethical.
For a service that would take 10 minutes max, they try to poach you in their favor.
Please do avoid them.

My son has been receiving excellent treatment by the lovely staff at Edinburgh Orthodontics, but this was severely let down by the lack of social distancing and high number of people in the waiting room.
I was quite shocked to see the front door wide open to allow anybody to enter and no screening before we went in!
Also cleanliness on the seats desperately needs some attention.

"We'll do it next time" was what I heard at every appointment. Had the exact same braces for sooooo long. Only needed slight correction of my teeth. Had to tell them to just stop the treatment and pull out the braces because they took too long I was going on my year abroad.
Oh well, at least it was tax money!

Inquired to have my bonded retainer fixed (I can’t go back to the orthodontist who first did it because I have moved countries in the meantime), and Edinburgh Orthodontics plainly refused to help me based on some vague “it is our policy not to replace bonded retainers on patients who have not had active treatment done here”.
It’s not that they can’t; they just won’t. So, I guess this just shows that the field of dentistry hasn’t even remotely heard of the hippocratic oath, given they are actively neglecting to help people. Very disappointing.
For the record: they offered to remove

Very helpful service, went out of their way to do all they can to help. I rang up about a problem with my braces, and they gave me an appointment within the hour. The appointment was quick, it solved my problem, the staff were friendly and nice. After encountering such incompetent services by other NHS organisations recently, it's refreshing to have been offered the treatment I was given here. I'm very grateful
