This section and connected pages show in brief chronological order the main battles, campaigns and events which have occurred during the Regiment's history, conveniently split into centuries. It is by no means complete as it refers mainly to the regular battalions of the Regiment. You will notice as you read through this impressive list that the Regiment was involved in almost every action in the Nation's military history.
Gather your troops for an educational day out! The museum holds a unique collection of uniforms, paintings, medals, library and archive which portrays the life of the regiment from 1678 to the present day. It is housed in a historic building with many Charles Rennie Mackintosh features that was the house of T and R Annan, well-known Glasgow photographers.
The Glasgow Highlanders (GH); formerly a British infantry regiment, becoming a volunteer battalion of the HLI in 1881. We have an extensive library and archives containing material associated with the Regiment and antecedent regiments, including: battalion war diaries; personal diaries & correspondence; regimental journals, etc.
We sell copies of military medals that we make here in our UK workshop under MoD licence, or source from the best available. We also sew-on ribbons ready to wear, engrave medals, repair medals and can even display them alongside a photograph in a frame to hang on your wall. You can get an armed forces veterans badge if you've served in any of the UK armed forces (regular & reserve forces ) - there's no fee.

As Glaswegian living abroad I was surprised to see that the old recruiting office had been turned into a museum. The young lady at the reception was very helpful and was obviously interested in her work and… spoke enthusiastically about the museum. The exhibits were very interesting. However...the displays were very badly lit and difficult to enjoy. I would recommend it but...take a torch.

Fascinating museum. Well worth a free visit tho I am sure a donation will be very acceptable. You can find your great great grandfathers service records here as well as the uniform he wore and kit he had to fight with. A brilliant gem of a place. Long may it continue. A great place to take the kids and a resource for history teachers and students in the West of Scotland.

A fascinating and emotive museum which seems be forgotten about being at "wrong" end of Sauchiehall Street.Very well presented and a very efficient staff.Very disappointed I could not stay longer but will be back for a long visit in next few months.
The building does have a WATER GENERATED LIFT designed by CHARLES RENNIE MACKINTOSH.which I suggest is publicised more to attract more visitors. .
