No 97 is a little neighbourhood restaurant located in the heart of leafy Maple Road, Surbiton. City meets country. In all the good ways. Took my girlfriend for her birthday. Looked fancy good reviews thought will be a great place for an occasion. Required to put 10 quid reservation. Fair enough. But when we arrived it was only 3 tables out of 20. Why the charge then?
Ambience was cool, kind complaint, the manager was friendly. Staff should be trained better on the food they serve.
Food. Menu is kind of confusing, using a lot of fancy words. That the staff does not know. Coming back to my rissoto. Said it has winter truffles, when served it came with fried garlic. When asked the waiter she immediately called the manager,who explained

Fantastic dining experience here last night. We sat at the counter although there are tables too of course. The food was honestly gorgeous, varied and interesting. The kitchen guys really care about what they do. You can pair wine with each dish, or they even do their own Pale Ale! Only a few minutes walk from Surbiton station. Wonderful independent restaurant. We'll be back often. Thanks all.

Came here to celebrate my anniversary of becoming British. Just moved to the area so trying out the local restaurants.
We had the set menu for lunch and everything was well cooked, tasty. Nice beer too!
Location is nice and cool ambience.
Some of my favourite dishes were:
- Pressed chicken leg
- Cantelope soup
- pork with soy glaze
- the sea bass
