Step 2 - Control work activities at the premises until you can put in place measures to control the asbestos risk. Step 7 - Inspect the condition of the asbestos at least annually and your review priorities and management actions.

Importantly - for refurbishment or demolition work, HSG 264 Refurbishment / Demolition surveys are required relating to the scope of the project, and should be carried out at project planning stage in accordance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
The type of survey undertaken will vary during the lifespan of the premises and several may be needed over time. The duty-holder, building owner, employer and surveyor need to be clear on the type of survey needed, where the survey is needed, and what records should result. The purpose of a Management Survey is to manage ACMs during the normal occupation and use of the premises.
Since the publication of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations (CAWR) in 2002, there has been a requirement for organisations/duty holders to manage the risk from asbestos on their premises and develop a plan to show where the asbestos containing material (ACM) is located and how it will be managed.
