The Luton Van I hired had done over 260000 miles was covered in scuffs scratches dents etc. The roof leaked the interior was filthy and it drove terribly especially with a load on. It struggled to pull up hill and the brakes were extremely dodgy
I have driven Hire vans for the past 30 years from different companies and this is the worst ever.
After waiting a week for my excess of £150 to be refunded and getting no reply to my emails requesting an update I found that £100 had been returned to me. There was no call the day after I dropped it off to say they had found any damage they

Does exactly what it says, but with a smile.
Great advice,fantastic customer service and an honest approach to rental.
Questions like "Do you need a van of that size or do you need one smaller because it will be cheaper?"
Cannot fault the van, good to drive and very comfy even after 9 hours in it!!

Hired a van for moving a sofa, although quite new it had a number of scuffs and marks but nothing documented on the paperwork, I used it for only 2hrs, returned it the same day, never left my sight, upon return they said there was a new dent in the rear door high up, we parked it twice in wide open spaces where it was impossible to hit a door with anything. I can guarentee 100% that we didnt damage it. Refused to refund my £100 deposit. I hired it based on trust but they cannot be trusted.

I hired a Luton van for a recent house move and was really impressed with how simple Smiths made the process. Pick up was really easy. They photographed my driver’s licence & utility bill and handed the keys over. Drop off was via a key chute so I didn’t even need to go inside. The van was just what I needed, I was able to leave my car in their car park and the price was very reasonable. The elephant on the side of the van was a bonus!
