My name is Robert Moore, but most people call me Bob. Together with my wife Kay, we run a family Oxford Chimney Sweep business which was established in 1993, and we have been providing a professional and friendly service for over 20 years experience. My wife Kay takes care of the bookings, and you can make an appointment for your chimney to be swept by contacting us.

Kay is happy to answer any questions that you might have and find a suitable time for you to have your chimney swept. I always aim to be on time, for appointments and many people comment on how reliable, friendly and professional I am. We sweep all types of chimneys including Traditional Fires, Woodburners, Jetmasters, Ingelnooks, Arga Flues, Rayburn and Boiler Flues, including removing birds nests.
Services
Welcome to Jem Chimney Sweep, established in 1993 by Bob and Kay Moore. We are a professional and reliable Oxford Chimney Sweep who have been providing a friendly service now for over twenty years. Based in Oxfordshire itself, we cover all surrounding areas including Stadhampton, Wallingford, Abingdon and Deddington.
It is recommended that your chimney is swept at least once a year to keep it in a safe working condition. Without regular sweeping, soot and tar can build up causing corrosion and unfortunately this can sometimes lead to chimney fires. Maintenance is necessary for your chimney to avoid damage to in the flue which can cause hazardous gasses to escape into the room.
As a young girl standing at a family wedding I watched man covered in soot kiss the bride, a lucky sweep I was told. I thought nothing more, until at a recent wedding, I observed a regally dressed gentleman in a top hat and frock coat, holding a chimney brush. He kissed the bride and clasped hands with the groom.
The timeless classic Mary Poppins, immortalised the lucky sweep through Dick Van Dykes lyrics 'a sweep is as lucky, as lucky can be.' However the genesis of this luck was vague; a consistent belief is that a sweep grasped the reins of a panicking horse and saved its hapless rider from certain death.

Used this chap to clean X2 chimneys on our 2 woodburners. On the main woodburner, the firebrick inserts had been placed back into the woodburner incorrectly and x1 side plate was damaged in the process, and not reported to us a the time. The plate behind the actual baffle plate was dislodged and would not fit back up, therefore caused issues with the baffle plate. We have incurred additional costs due to the aforementioned damage and problems. This was an unnecessary outlay of money to have the parts replaced and the plate refitted. Not a great experience at all.
