Awdry Bailey and Douglas can trace its history back to approximately 1750. The firm's original founder was William Salmon who started his professional life as a young Attorney in Devizes in the mid-1700s. His son William Salmon the Second, continued the legal practice and became the owner of much of Devizes Castle and co-founded the first bank in Devizes, situated in St John's Street close to the firm's premises.

Peter Berry from Awdry Bailey & Douglas is like no other solicitor I know - and I mean that in a very good way. When you speak to him, his calm, compassionate approach instantly makes you feel that you are working with an expert in their field. At what can be a very stressful time Peter's empathy and collaborative approach helps to defuse tensions. He always works towards a fair solution for all parties which is a mark of his professionalism. I would recommend Peter and Awdry Bailey & Douglas to anyone needing support with family disputes

I first met Peter Berry and some of his colleagues of Awdry Bailey & Douglas through local networking via Sterling in Swindon and found him very easy to chat with.
I’m fortunate that I’ve not needed Peter’s skills personally, with his area of expertise being family law, but I have seen the impact he can have on those who do need him. What struck me about Peter was his focus on the future for his clients and the wider family and not just the numbers (something that really resonates with me as part of a forward looking accountancy business)
I’ve seen many family issues for clients over

If you want to run up large legal bills on incompetent solicitors, this is the firm for you.
I have witnessed the full process of a divorce case managed by this firm and been party to phone calls with their staff. In summary - hopeless and a waste of money.
Some particular highlights: 1 - drafting of numerous letter for several months that… achieved nothing but run up several thousands of pounds 2 - emails ignored, phone calls unanswered and appointments missed 3 - important financial information provided by the other side sat on by the solicitor and not revised for months 4 - Confidential
