Well, we sweep chimneys of course, but we are trained to do a lot more that involves the comfort and safety of homeowners and their families. Living in a home that uses a fireplace, gas or oil appliances or a solid fuel stove carries a certain responsibility. Our friend Daniel Hodgson, a chimney sweep in the south was interviewed by the BBC.
I am an experienced City and Guilds qualified chimney sweep based in South Lanarkshire, proficient in all aspects of chimney safety, maintenance and potential fire or emission hazards. I recently became a Training Officer (Scotland) with the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps, which is one of the two major professional chimney sweep organisations in the UK.
We have been using Ablesweep to annually service our open fire and wood burning stove for a number of years now and are very happy with the work that Simon carry's out. An excellent service from a fully qualified and professional company. Simon is very efficient and leaves the job clean and tidy-no sooty mess!
Burning wood logs that are too wet, gives a lot less heat and can cause problems in your chimney. Burning wood is environmentally friendly since it's considered carbon neutral and reduces your carbon footprint. The carbon dioxide released during combustion balances the carbon dioxide that was absorbed during its growth.
