Scot Group Ltd operates both the Dollar and Thrifty rental brands in the UK and is the largest privately owned rental company in the UK today. In 1999 Nigel Spokes assumed a controlling interest in the company. Remaining true to its roots the business still remains family-owned to this day with the current board comprising Roger Hancock (Chairman) and Martin Wilson (Managing Director).
Below are some guidelines that will help you set up suitable insurance cover. It must be fully comprehensive cover. The total policy excess must not exceed 1000. Please ensure the vehicle details on your insurance fully match the details we have sent you. Please make sure that the policy details match those on the application form that you have submitted.

Aberdeen depot St Machars Drive. Served by the manager Tom. Arrived at 9.00 am for a booking in my name. , we were the only customers present.
It took an hour to do the paperwork which meant we had to leave straight away. Realised later that van was hired with my son as the hirer and me as the named driver. All payments in my name. Very unimpressed with a Thrifty Aberdeen. A hire company hire that can't hire to the right person. Very poor.

If you arrive late back at night and nobody to inspect car and you have to drop of car, they notify you that you have damaged the car and claim of you and you knowhis is not true, they are at it. I know I did not damage car. How can you trust a company that claims of you but I do not think this is the only company fraudentlt

The team at Thrift Tower Bridge are extremely unhelpful, unresponsive and simple do not care. We rented a car over 6 weeks ago and have sent multiple emails without any response, when I call them I'm told that my email has been "flagged as important" yet still do not receive a response from them. The team has held onto my rental deposit as they are claiming that there were mechanical issues with the car yet have failed to provide proof of said issues, simply giving the excuse that the car manufacturer needs to inspect the damage to determine it was caused by me or something covered

Have visited them recently and completely transformed! The staff are so helpful and friendly and a pleasure to deal with. I think it may be new people but so much better - would definitely recommend the Aberdeen branch!!
I dealt with a cental office to get a long term hire arranged. After stating that it takes three to five working days to locate a vehicle they didn't meet that guarantee. I had to chase them for updates and information. As you have to organise your own insurance I couldn't give the insurer details of the car to obtain the certificate to send to Thrifty which doesn't help the process

Booked a car on the Thrifty website and received confirmation. Called the Thrifty Care Rental Branch in Greenwich to ask what car would be provided. Was told that they didn't have any cars available and that they wouldn't be getting a car ready. The booking was made at 3:30 so they had plenty of time to get a car ready before closing time. The guy who answers the phone is smarmy, and seems as though the branch is just one of the lazy ones which cant be bothered serving clients. We've been a loyal customer of Thrifty utilising them most weeks. May have now lost another customer! Thrifty
