Oak timber frames offer enormous potential for creating beautiful and inspiring living spaces. A garden room or kitchen extension can transform the ordinary into something really exciting. Open volumes of space such as a galleried hallway, living room, kitchen or master bedroom all present opportunities to show off our beautifully crafted oak frames.
Many of our projects involve whole house frames which form a unique, new build home for our clients. We will design, engineer, fabricate and erect a beautiful Oak frame, which forms the structural skeleton of your building, before being clad externally by others, with your choice of building materials.
This substantial base cruck frame is in one of the earliest historic styles of Oak frame carpentry. Sourcing such large curved members was not easy and requires a good understanding between forester and carpenter. Note the form of the base cruck with a collar or yoke at high level with a braced king post and ridge braces set over.
This lovely stone barn was derelict when the client bought it and was renovated with oak trusses and frames supplied by The Green Oak Carpentry Company. The use of stainless steel and Oak has been used to create an elegant contemporary style home. Paired principle rafters clasp stainless steel spreaders which, with 12mm tendons, form bow string style trusses.
