J & A Phillips is a local, family owned and run Independent builders' merchants that has been established 35 years. Our doors were first opened as a small DIY shop on Corporation Road, Newport in 1983 by John and Anne Phillips. Due to their hard work and commitment, the business really took off and after a few years they moved to a larger premises on Granville Lane.
Anne is still heavily involved with the business but the general day to day running is with her daughter, Christine and son in law, Mike. We pride ourselves on being able to provide a good, old fashioned, personal service to our trade and DIY customers that you just don't get from the larger companies.

I would give it NO stars if I could!
Sold wrong product which they wouldn't acknowledge. Told me to bring the aggregate back .. 10 x 25kg bags. Have a heart condition. Was told that I had picked them so should take them back. (They used a fork lift to carry them!).
Got through to Mike and again tried to explain but was shouted over and asked why I hadn't bought from my previous supplier... well Mike ... I went back to them and got the PROPER golden flint ... yellowish in colour if you're interested .. not the dull, grey flint you sold me.
I will inform others of your rudeness and awful 'customer

Recently I purchased some patio slabs from J&A Phillips Builders Merchants. They were really helpful when I contacted them and nothing seemed like to much of a hassle for them. They worked out how many slabs I needed and helped me choose a pattern which would suit my patio. Excellent delivery service, I had the slabs a few days later and the driver was very competent. The slabs were very reasonable priced and great value for money. I would highly reccomed J & A Phillips to anyone looking for building supplies.
