The Good Tree
Ten thousand oaks of one hundred years are no substitute for one five hundred year old oak tree. I started out on the tools, in 1996, and then combined this experience with study at Merrist Wood College and Westonbirt Arboretum, while learning the craft further through work with various organisations, including the RHS gardens at Wisley and work as a freelance arborist in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

I was often responsible for overseeing technical and specialised large tree surgery works and removals. Since setting up The Good Tree Company, I have also been lecturing in arboriculture and assessing candidates wishing to attain certificates of competence in tree climbing and chainsaw operations.
Services
The Good Tree Company is a tree maintenance specialist operating across Shropshire and the surrounding area, providing help and advice in all aspects of tree care. From a small cherry tree in the garden to a majestic avenue or towering Cedar, we can manage all types of trees in a wide variety of situations.
When contacting The Good Tree Company you will deal with either Jonathan Finlow (director) or Claire Finlow (Jonathan's wife). We endeavour to reply to all messages the same day, although we are a small business, and it does often take longer - but we will reply. Should your inquiry be urgent please make this clear in your message.
Health and safety has a bad name in many areas of society where the abuse of this term is an affront to common sense. Arboriculture is recognised as a high risk occupation within which there is a danger to both operatives and the public.

As well as meeting an expanding list of legislative requirements, The Good Tree Company recognises the value of ensuring that paper work records genuinely practical and efficient methods that are implemented in the work place. We regularly update procedures and equipment in line with the latest research and findings, including our own.
Ten thousand oaks of one hundred years are no substitute for one five hundred year old oak tree. Because trees are such an integral part of our lives, we cannot but be aware that our work with them can affect that environment. Trees are important for so many reasons: beauty, shelter, habitat, well-being, shade, screening, shape, fruit and timber - not to mention breathing.
This scheme has been running for nearly 40 years. The concept is to give assurance to clients that they are employing companies that have high standards of tree care. The regular checks carried out by the Arb Association look at the quality of work, the manner of work, client care, and all aspects of health and safety and legislation, from the office and workshop to the workplace.
