Twenty years ago, in the Spring of 1997, Sunlover began. Inspired by the beautiful handicraft products of Indonesia and fuelled by a desire to help families support themselves Sunlover began importing goods to the UK, with the primary aim of connecting individual artisans in Indonesia directly to western buyers.
Our range of beautiful wooden British birds are skilfully hand carved for us in a family based workshop in Bali before being meticulously hand painted with the incredible detail that makes them so special. This family run workshop specialises in lifelike reproductions of various birds and animals. These are carved from a fast growing, sustainably grown wood, known as Albesia.
Our beautiful Buddha carvings are hand carved for us by skilled fair trade artisans in Indonesia. The Buddhas are carved from The Indian Rain Tree, known locally as "Suar" wood, which is not indigenous to the region, but was originally introduced by the Dutch, and is now sustainably grown. A stunningly beautiful focal point to any room.
Our delightful handmade suncatchers and crafted using wire and coloured resin on the island of Bali. Hang them in your window to catch the rays of sunlight and let the colours shine and dance throughout your room. Available in a range of styles, colours and designs we have something available to suit every taste.
Sunlover chimes and birdhouses are handcrafted by a number of different family workshops and co-operatives throughout Indonesia and Thailand. All the chimes are made using locally sourced bamboo, coconut shell and various straws and grasses. All our chimes are made using nylon twine for extended outdoor life!

Some of the products are lovely but a lot come with relatively bad faults that the company ignores completely. Of the few orders I have had none have come without flaws. The first of which was a quite frankly completely rotten piece of wood that was crumbling in my hands. I asked for a replacement and was told that all pieces were like this so they offered me 50% off and was credited. The credit was never applied despite asking for it when reordering. I then sent two emails asking for a refund and neither were responded to over the space of 5 months (much, much longer if you count when I first
