Blake Group is an engineering business operating from Edinburgh. The Company focuses on metalwork, steel fabrication and the production of fuel storage tanks for which we a UK market leader. The business currently employs around 50 permanent staff, mostly from our main facility in Bonnington. We have 30 fully qualified engineers, coded welders (BS EN 1090 and ISO 9001) and are CE Certified (EN 1090) for the production of structural steelwork.
Detailed information and knowledge are crucial when planning any engineering project. Having expert advice from the outset can save considerable time and money whilst reducing exposure to risk. Both Blake Group's Environmental Storage Tanks Division and Fabrications Division offer independent and impartial consultancy services for clients.
Innovation has played a key role in the success of Blake Group since the first blacksmith's forge opened next to Leith Docks in Edinburgh prior to the start of the Second World War. Always able to turn his hand to any engineering challenge, as a young man James Blake quickly became established as a respected craftsman in his trade.
The Fabrications Division consists of a team of specialist steel fabricators and steelwork craftsmen. These craftsmen have a proven track record of quality installations in commercial and residential building projects.

I reached out to Blake Group after another well known steel company in Edinburgh let me down at the 11th hour on a residential project in the centre of Edinburgh. I spoke to John Macdonald to explain the project and also stressed the importance of finding another steel supplier asap to keep my project moving. I had originally not contacted Blake Group because I assumed they would find my residential job too small (albeit it has over 20 sections of steel in a fifth floor penthouse extension), but boy was I wrong. I needed a small and intricate piece of steel made and after being all around Edinburgh (another metal fabrication business and also contacted the manufacturer etc etc) Blake’s made this piece for me within 5 minutes and with no fuss. I would come here first in future.

I had brought in the gate motor with a cracked housing and my request was to drill and tap two holes on operating arms. Whoever did the work did very well on that and also welded the cracked housing which has saved me buying a new £200 motor.

Paddy at Blake Group was so so helpful. Firstly he was able to cut me 20 steel rods, 24h turnaround. Then when I came to collect them, he was really friendly and helpful, carrying them to the car, wrapping them and carefully loading into the car to avoid damage. Splendid job! Above and beyond. Highly recommended!

Paddy Brogan from Blake Group has been excellent. No job too small, turned around quickly and willing to discuss the work in hand. Would recommend them to anyone.
I have been working on a prototype design for over a year and needed the services of a blacksmiths. Because the work has often been a small job previous firms just put it to the back of the queue or did not get round to it. This was not the case with Blake Group.

As an Edinburgh homeowner, the service was just that - 10/10!
My builder had recommended Blakes for steel finishing strips for our new glass balustrade and large sliding doors.
Although the request was a one off and a relatively small project, Paddy and his team could not have been more helpful and extremely professional.
Paddy in particular was very precise and happy to go the extra mile with advice on timbers we should use and advice for clips
