Howards was founded in 2005 following the merger of Barringtons and Wood & Co, two well-established and successful Stafford firms of accountants. We have a team of over 35 people comprising consultants, directors, managers, seniors, semi-seniors and trainees. Between us we have a wealth of knowledge and experience enabling us to look after clients of all sizes and backgrounds.
Managing director and controlling shareholder, Matt has turned Howards into an award-winning practice recognised for its multi-discipline expertise, proactive approach and service ethos. A qualified Chartered Certified Accountant, he has vast experience and manages a large client portfolio.
Always hands-on, Matt is building the firm's reputation for litigation success and ensuring that Howards provides accounting, business advice and tax solutions for businesses of all sizes, from sole traders to large international corporations.Ryan has worked in two independent practices in Cheshire and Staffordshire since 1996, gaining varied commercial and taxation experience, and has passed his exams with both the ACCA and ICAEW.

We prepare accounts for all kinds of businesses including sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and LLPs. We will ensure your accounts comply with the relevant accounting standards and are filed with the relevant authorities in the appropriate format.
Studying for the exams took a lot of hard work but Howards gave me the time and support to enable me to pass. By passing the advanced tax exam I feel more confident about advising clients in more complex areas. Studying for the exam takes a lot of dedication and is a big commitment in terms of time and pressures.
In the future, it doesn't take too much imagination to see a world where the kitchen just keeps stock of the weekly essentials automatically, using online retail to keep itself stocked and enabling us all to spend more time doing the things we enjoy. Staffordshire start-up Pantri is spearheading the development of smart kitchens by reaping the benefits of outsourcing its accountancy and business support services to Howards.
