Robert Wynn, from whom the company takes its name, was only fifteen when he inherited the already successful haulage business his father, Thomas, had founded in 1863, the year of Robert's birth. Thomas had been a carriage cleaner, who had recognised that the traditional transport of heavy loads by canal was being replaced by the developing railway system.
The significant impact of road transport on climate change and our environment is well documented, as is the economic cost of congestion. Robert Wynn & Sons through our operation of the Terra Marique and Inland Navigator strive to minimise the road milage travelled by the largest and heaviest abnormal indivisible loads.
Within the power generation sector our experience has included the movement of transformers, turbines, generators, rotors weighing up to 400 tonnes. Robert Wynn and Sons working in partnership with clients has successfully delivered electricity transformers for some of the largest projects in this sector.
Robert Wynn & Sons experience in this sector includes the movement of turbines, generators, condensers and rotors weighing up to 400 tonnes. Besides delivery to conventional ports we have delivered these cargoes directly to coastal power station sites, inland waterside locations and by beach landing.
Robert Wynn and Sons working in partnership with clients has successfully delivered electricity transformers for some of the largest projects in this sector. From onshore connections for offshore wind, HVDC interconnector projects, and transformers to new and existing substation sites across the UK and Europe.
