Services
A very seasonal pest species, ants only really a problem when inside the house or very close to it. Ant hills in the garden are not an issue and the pest controller can't realistically do a great deal about them. A residual insecticide is sprayed to the perimeter of the house inside and out at ground level.
A well established animal in the countryside now since escapes and deliberate releases were made from former 'fur farms'. Responsible for much of the loss in numbers of the water vole, commonly referred to as a water rat. Mink are solitary for most of their lives and will kill out of proportion to what they need.
Squirrels, while an appealing animal, are definitely not wanted inside an attic space. They can have two litters a year but the main one is always around February when those noises in the roof may be due to squirrels rather than rats. Although not disease carrying like a rat, squirrels will gnaw wood and electric cables, urinate throughout the roof, smell badly and cause damage to the property in gnawing an entrance / exit hole.
Chichester, the county town of West Sussex has provided a great deal of varied call-outs over the years and has been the site of a large amount of woodworm infestations. More commonplace pests include the fairly harmless 'silverfish' found often in bathrooms which cause some distress to a few people.
The busy town of Crawley has provided ample and varied work over the years, including infestations of squirrels. Squirrels are no fun in a loft space as a recent case saw a two-fold approach of poison (there is only one legally approved bait allowed) a cage trap in the loft and garden. Control was attained quickly, which it usually is with squirrels or not at all.
