I qualified as a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance in 2017. I got to go to India to do it, and yes, it was wonderful. Hard work, but I'm so glad I chose a beach in Goa - there's worse places to be when every muscle is exhausted and your brain is full of physiology, anatomy and mantras! My main motivation for becoming a teacher was to pass on the practices to people struggling with mental health problems.
Having struggled with anorexia nervosa for many years, I found the practice of yoga improved my quality of life, mental wellbeing, physical wellbeing and body awareness. You don't have to have a mental health problem to benefit from yoga, in fact boosting these things can help you build resilience to ward off or reduce problems in the future.

Yoga classes are so much more than an hour of physical exercise - they bring people together from all corners of the community. Collectively improving health and happiness. Trying a class for the first time can be daunting whether you're new to yoga or not. My aim is to create accessible and welcoming classes making students new and old feel part of the Team CDY family.
Perhaps you're not quite ready to join a class, or have specific requirements that a one-to-one session would improve. Private sessions give the opportunity to explore together how yoga can work for you and your needs. Giving you tailored postures and sequences designed to improve physical and mental wellbeing in class and at home.
An annual non-profit event providing yoga, meditation and mindfulness classes in the community, by the community. Cumbria-based Yoga Teacher, Caroline (Caroline does Yoga) was inspired by pictures of yoga mats filling public spaces to celebrate International Yoga Day around the world and wanted to bring the phenomenon to Carlisle.

I have been attending Caroline’s yoga classes for around six months now and I love them. I have met some fantastic people whilst building strength and improving my flexibility. Caroline is a great teacher and her classes cater to all abilities as she suggests adaptations to make each pose more or less challenging. Caroline is obviously very serious and passionate about yoga but her classes are fun, relaxed and welcoming. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

At the start of the year I began coming to one of Caroline's yoga classes and I will be honest in saying I didn't think it would be for me. After my first class I realised I had totally got this wrong as I… thoroughly enjoy it and can't imagine not going to yoga now! Caroline's classes are friendly and I totally recommend them to anyone that wants to give it a try.
