Jempsons is a family-run, independent haulage firm based in Rye, East Sussex, with over 150 years of experience. The first motorised vehicle, a Model T Ford, was purchased in 1924 by John Jempson, who then developed a well-earned slice of the freight industry through hard work and diligence.
Within ten years the fleet had grown, with acquisitions of vehicles such as the Thornycroft J Type, Ford Model A and Leyland Bull all playing an integral part in establishing a company that now holds the respect of locals and professionals throughout the trade. The present Chairman, John's son Jonathan, and the current Managing Director, Mark Chamberlain, have built the company to its current size.

Services
The overnight pallet delivery service via the PALLETFORCE network adds another dimension to our service, meaning we can meet all transport requirements from small quarter pallets to full articulated loads. As members of The Transport Association, we knew that many like-minded hauliers with excellent reputations had invested in this fast growing, member-owned company.
General haulage is our business. Whether it's local or national, whatever products you need moved we can do it. Running a fleet of 85 plus vehicles, we can collect and deliver part or full 45ft articulated loads on either flats or curtain-sided trailers and meet customer needs with specific timed delivery requirements.
In order to maintain the high standards of Jempsons' already well-established transport enterprise, Jempsons Commercials was formed in 1985 as a separate company, to specialise in the vehicle maintenance and repair side of the business.
With the increasing demands of today's market, Jempsons Commercials now offers an extremely flexible package when it comes to keeping your business on the road and handles full maintenance and servicing of all types of commercial vehicles. It has six service bays, two pits, three lift jacks, brake tester and vehicle steam wash.

With the summer finally upon us, things have been ticking along at Jempsons HQ. There is nothing much to report this month, aside from a little staff reshuffle. We are sad to announce that Sophie Sheasby, our Palletforce Depot Manager at Robertsbridge, is leaving us. She has done a fantastic job and we would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all her hard work and wish her luck in her future endeavours.
