The original beam of this hidden inglenook fireplace had unfortunately been sawn in half to accommodate the modern 1970's 'improvements'. This was removed and replaced with a matched reclaimed oak beam over 3.5m long - which took five men to move into place! When the Woodlouse team opened the aperture up, we were delighted to find the original quoin stones still intact.
Restoration of period properties and historic buildings requires careful consideration, planning and expertise to ensure the correct approach is used for the work. Woodlouse Conservation have built a reputation for understanding local buildings, architecture and building methods to conserve some of the region's more recognisable properties.

Report
We engaged Woodlouse Conservation to undertake work on our newly acquired property in South Somerset. This 300 year old property is in a very exposed position, and at some point in its history had been subjected to concrete rendering and many layers of plasticised paint. There were some significant damp problems internally, which were rapidly becoming worse.
The Woodlouse team impressed immediately on their arrival on site. The team were all hard working, polite and knowledgeable. The site was left immaculately clean at the end of every day. We added more work whilst the team were on site, and
