The theatre opened in 1925 as a memorial hall in memory of those who fell in the 1st World War. During the 1930's seating was installed to accommodate audiences for the ever growing popularity of cinema and traded as "The Grand". Our theatre is now the focal point for not only remembering the fallen of the 1st World War but also World War 2 and other conflicts.
The annual Remembrance Service in November is held at the theatre. The Assembly Rooms (formally known as the Hexagon Suite) were added to the complex during the 1970's funded from the sale of the Frome Water Works to Bristol Water. Throughout the 1980's and 90's the Memorial Hall was little used and began to fall into disrepair; and the local authority planned to demolish it and build houses.

You can buy tickets for our forthcoming shows, safe in the knowledge that should a show be postponed, your tickets will transfer to the new date. You can donate to the theatre to help us in these extremely difficult times. You can send a cheque made payable to FMTT to Frome Memorial Theatre, Christchurch Street West, Frome, BA11 1EB, or call the Box Office on 01373 462795 and leave a message.
The theatre is supported by over 100 volunteers who give their time for free on a regular basis to ensure that everything runs smoothly. We acknowledge that the time spent as volunteers at the theatre is our leisure time; and we always seek to provide a 'fun environment' for our volunteers to work in.

First time to the Memorial theatre to see the very charismatic Ben Fogle, a nice theatre seats are normal theatre affairs glad I was at the front of the Upper circle with a bit more leg room, there's a nice bar for interlude drinks, parking is very limited at the theatre itself but there's a large car park 5 minutes walk which is pay and display charge at the time of our visit were only £2 for the evening, all in all a great experience.

Lovely theatre. We sat on the balcony and the seats were fantastic for any musical show. You have such a good view from any seat up there. If you wanted to see up close then obviously not so great but for concerts brilliant. The staff are all volunteers and are lovely. I'm so glad I found out about this place as I will definitely be checking other shows out here. It's quite small and a bit old fashioned but it adds character.
