Islay Old School Cottages
Goodbye to care. These three little words from the song Westering Home, written by Hugh S. Roberton a century ago, sum up beautifully what it means to choose a holiday on lovely Islay, The Queen of the Hebrides. Visitors receive a ceud mile failte (one hundred thousand welcomes) from the moment they alight from the ferry at Port Ellen.

There are no strangers here, just friends we have yet to meet. The song says it all about the warmth and friendliness of this place and its people: Westering home, and a song in the air, Light in the eye and it's goodbye to care. Laughter o' love, and a welcoming there, Isle of my heart, my own one.

Our trip to Islay was made even better knowing we had such a lovely place to stay. Fantastic views from the decking. The place has such a homely feel and we all instantly felt comfortable. Place is close enough to get a good walk to three fantastic distilleries meaning there was no designated driver.
10/10 would recommend and will be back.

Excellent 5-star accommodation right in Port Ellen. Super convenient location, right by the ferry terminal. 5-10 mins walk to grocery store, restaurants and other spots around town. Houses are large, modern and very well appointed. View from the deck is gorgeous in the early morning and evenings. Good communications with hose (Kathleen) and she was very helpful during our stay.
From the map, it looks like it is right by the ferry terminal and one might be concerned with noise and traffic. But this was not a problem at all. Ferry only comes in twice a day and is at the "back" of the house. Location
