Downes Crediton Golf Club is situated on the outskirts of Crediton, approximately 5 miles from the city of Exeter, and was established over 40 years ago thanks mainly to a group of golf enthusiasts who wanted to provide a golf facility for the benefit of the local community. This 18 hole golf course is set in parkland on the historic Downes Estate in Mid Devon and will challenge both the low and high handicapper alike.
Golf societies and visitors are most welcome to enjoy this superb course along with its club house facilities which include a full catering service and bar. Special arrangements can be made for large groups who wish to reserve tee off times followed by lunch or dinner depending upon their requirements.

Services
At Downes Crediton Golf Club we are proud of the consistently high quality feedback we receive from our visitors. Could this be because of our challenging, tree lined, parkland 18 hole golf course? Is it because of the relaxing surroundings and quality facilities of our clubhouse? Perhaps it is because of the attention to detail offered by our professional and staff.
We are a relatively small group of Ladies, with handicaps ranging from single figures through to "new to golf members", whose handicaps are in the new range of 36 to 54. We are very happy to welcome new members of all abilities. We are proud to say we are an R&A Women In Golf signatory. This means we are activlely doing all we can to promote women to take up the game of golf and get invloved with club activities and hold board positions.
Downes Crediton Golf Club has recently been awarded GolfMark (High Achiever) accreditation incorporating Clubmark, and as such, takes the welfare of its junior members seriously. Our junior organiser, Neil Ford, looks after the section and organises competitions for all abilities and ages in the Section which includes competing in the East Devon Junior league.
It is often said that life begins at 40. Well rest assured that there is more to come when you reach 60 and join the ranks of the Seniors at Downes Crediton Golf Club. By no means an elite group you will be welcomed with open arms into a group of golfers who make up over 40% of the membership. The Seniors' day is Monday when competitions are played, with the first tee reserved from around 8.30am up until 12.30pm.

Played 6 October although a dry day for us days prior had a lot of rain. The course was surprisingly firm underfoot no standing water the greens where in excellent condition. . Included for us bacon roll and coffee followed by 1course roast pork ( crackling was spot on). The only thing for me that let down the day was the coffee ! I don't have sugar but it was the only way to make it drinkable so sorry can't give 5 * particularly as coffee is for me rather important!
Thanks for a great day.

We loved our round today (we’re a lady and gent) and the course played well. To non members, it’s a tad tricky to know where you’re going, but Barry, the golf pro was really helpful in explaining the route round. We loved a couple of the more ‘quirky’ holes too. The back 9 is not the same as the front 9, and felt like you were playing a totally… different round. There are a few ‘water features’ too which as a visitor you need to bear in mind and they sneak up on you if you aren’t aware they are there. All in all a thoroughly fab day finished

They have a small clubhouse and holes in the field, but well organised by owners. I took a beginner's lesson here and the coaches were super friendly, teaching me from a zero-ground basis. The one thing disadvantageous only for me is that this place is far away from my house. I really enjoyed spending time there!
