Compact, efficient and high quality. The Hobbit stove is a small cast iron multi-fuel stove designed for small spaces and magical places. The Little Range Cook Stove delivers all of the same great features as the Hobbit, with the added benefits of a larger stainless steel cooktop and a good-sized oven.

Services
Founded in 2009 and based in the beautiful countryside of Devon, England, Salamander Stoves is a family-run business specialising in the manufacturing and design of our high quality flagship stove, the Hobbit. With over 18 years of experience in dealing with a wide range of antique, modern and contemporary stoves, we have carefully brought this knowledge to bare in the design of our own cast iron multi-fuel stove.
Eco design 2022 is the stove industry's response to the DEFRA Clean Air Strategy which aims to improve air quality and reduce emissions and pollution. Our stove is specifically designed for installations where the space for a stove might be more limited, and this makes our stove the ideal choice for small fireplaces, where larger stoves simply won't fit.
Good seasoned hardwood would be the optimum choice every time but is increasingly hard to find. The burn rate and heat given out by wood burnt in a wood burning stove differs depending on the species and 'dryness' of the wood used. Most woods can be used in a wood stove but all must be dry and well seasoned.
We had a Hobbit stove fitted this week by Alex Reay from Flues and Fires, and I just wanted to get in touch to say it is AMAZING and we love it! We have a lovely cast iron tiled fireplace which I was desperate not to lose when we installed a small wood burning stove, but until I found the Hobbit on Google, everyone told me it would be impossible to keep the fire surround.
Our FAQ's cover an extensive list of frequently asked questions, and we also have a wide range of documents, guides and instructional videos that can be found in our help section. If you have any other questions regarding the Hobbit stove, the Hobbit SE, or the Little Range Cook Stove, then please feel free to contact us!

I bought a Salamander Little Cookstove for my off grid cabin. I was delighted to find a range small enough for my little home but still a real range that I can cook on and in and my cabin is so cosy.
The range is extremely good quality, very easy to light and having the glass door in the firebox makes it great company on a cold wet night .

Here in the north-east of Scotland there is often a bit of a bite in the air in the evening and we have the benefit of such long evenings being further north in Britain.
The stove itself looks great and is very well-made and, like its namesake, it is small, sturdy and reliable. It is very easy to light, warms up quickly and gives off a gorgeous warmth which I have found that I am able to control well. It has some lovely details, and with all the customisations available I feel that mine is completely unique. Mine is located in a 7' x 7' wooden summerhouse. It took me a day to install as a moderate

Hello Mark,
we just wanted to thank you for your immediate support.
The metal piece is fitted at the front and the stove is doing its work!
This Hobbit had a long sleep before his first time start.
Jennifer from London bought it in 2011 in your shop and moved with it
to Ireland where it was stored in a barn and never be used.
Last month she put a free ad on the internet where we luckily found it.
Now it's doing a great job in our off-grid welling in the middle of Ireland.
So thanks again very much for your quick and take our 5 STAR rating for you !
Kind regards Constanze and Tom

I bought my little Hobbit stove not from Salamander but through a completely unrelated dealership, who then sent another stove installation company to fit it. Unfortunately at some point in this process the stove was damaged. Without going into too many details I would like to make it clear that I do not believe Salamander was in any way… responsible for this, and yet they went above and beyond in supplying a replacement stove. Indeed I believe they took a bit of a financial hit in the process. In short, they were absolutely lovely throughout the whole saga and I can't recommend them enough

Fantastic service and a quality product. Very rare to call a company and speak to the stove creator who offers free advice on all aspects of the stove and installation. Thoroughly recommended. In response to the previous review, i got mine at a local dealer who was closing down so did get a deal. However i'd be happy to pay full price for such a quality product.

5 stars for the stove but shop around and definitely do not buy direct from Salamander, other retailers will sell you the stove for the same retail price with various free of charge items, for example an Ecofan stove top fan worth £60 (which is recommended to distribute the heat around the room) - we queried this with Salamander and they fobbed us off with various facetious comments which left a very sour taste, having just spent nearly £600 with them and expecting to get the best price buying direct, we're now out of pocket another £60 for a fan. Very disappointing as apart from that it's a
